Akzo Nobel Aerospace Coatings has announced plans to establish a new colour blending and distribution facility in Dubai, marking a significant step in expanding its operations within the Middle East. The site, scheduled to become operational by the second quarter of 2026, will serve as a regional hub catering to commercial aviation operators, maintenance, repair, and overhaul (MRO) facilities, original equipment manufacturers (OEMs), and industry partners.
The Dubai facility will enable local blending of key products such as “Aerobase,” “Aerodur 3001,” and “Eclipse” coatings, alongside streamlined access to primers, topcoats, and thinners held in stock. Automated and precision-controlled processes will support colour blending to ensure consistent quality and reliability, aligning with the company’s global standards.
Strengthening regional efficiency and support
According to Xavier Rijmenans, EMEA Sales Director for Akzo Nobel Aerospace Coatings, the new facility reflects the company’s commitment to addressing the growing demand in the region. Rijmenans emphasised that the local distribution model, already successfully implemented in Asia, Europe, and North America, will reduce lead times and enhance operational efficiency for customers in the Middle East.
The strategic location of the Dubai facility positions the coatings producer to better support aviation stakeholders in scaling operations and meeting increasing demand for high-performance coatings. The move also aligns with broader industry trends, where localised production and distribution are critical for improving supply chain reliability and ensuring timely delivery.
The establishment of this facility underscores Akzo Nobel’s strategy to strengthen its global network while addressing specific regional needs. As the aerospace market in the Middle East continues to grow, the new site is expected to play a pivotal role in supporting the sector’s development and ensuring access to reliable coatings solutions.
