On September 20, the China Enterprise Confederation and the China Entrepreneurs Association released the 2023 Top 500 Chinese Enterprises list, and more than 60 petroleum and chemical enterprises were on the list.

In 2022, China's petrochemical industry will achieve operating income of 16.56 trillion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 14.4%, hitting a new record high, and achieving a total profit of 1.13 trillion yuan, remaining above one trillion yuan for two consecutive years. With the support of excellent performance, the number of petroleum and chemical companies on the list has increased significantly compared with the previous year.

Among the more than 60 companies on the list, China National Petroleum Corporation, China Petroleum and Chemical Corporation and Sinochem Holdings Co., Ltd. ranked second, third and ninth respectively, while China National Offshore Oil Corporation Limited, Hengli Group Co., Ltd., Zhejiang Rongsheng Holding Group Co., Ltd., Shaanxi Coal and Chemical Group Co., Ltd., Shenghong Holding Group Co., Ltd., Zhejiang Hengyi Group Co., Ltd., and Shaanxi Yanchang Petroleum (Group) Co., Ltd. entered the top 100.

Among the top 500 Chinese manufacturing enterprises in 2023, the heavy chemical industry still occupies a major position, and 4 of the 5 industries with the largest operating income are heavy chemical industry. The petroleum and chemical industry as an important pillar industry has become more prominent, Sinopec ranked first with 3.17 trillion yuan in revenue, Sinochem ranked second with 1.17 trillion yuan in revenue, and two chemical companies, China Hengli Group and Zhejiang Rongsheng Holding Group, also entered the top ten.
